In a nutshell…
Christ-Centered Spiritual intelligence is the capacity to discern the movement of God both in our environment and in our own souls. If we say that as professed Christians we have invited Christ to reside in our hearts, wouldn’t it make sense that discerning what is going on inside of us would also help us to discern the workings of Christ himself? He lives in our hearts and therefore learning to discern our hearts would be to discern not just what we want but what Christ wants.
There are six areas of discernment that help increase our overall spiritual intelligence: 1) Self-Awareness, 2) Self-Relationship, 3) God-Awareness, 4) God-Relationship, 5) Neighbor-Awareness, and 6) Neighbor-Relationship. The greater our awareness of Self, God, and Neighbor the more open to relationship with Self, God, and Neighbor. And the deeper our relationships with Self, God, and Neighbor the greater our capacity to discern the movement of God both in our environments and in our own souls.
Discerning God’s will is more than reading the Bible, it is also learning to perceive and respond to the active presence and stirring of God in our lives and the lives of others now.
